An International Collaboration of Scholars and Practitioners
SITHCP3 - Society for Integrating Traditional Healing into Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy, and Psychiatry

Mission

The Society for the Integration of Traditional Healing into Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy and Psychiatry (SITHCP3) was developed to promote, encourage and nurture research on the integration of traditional healing practices into counselling psychology, psychotherapy, and psychiatry.

The international society will serve as a reference group to researchers, health practitioners, traditional healers, and community workers interested in the interface between talking therapies and spiritual approaches to healing in counselling psychology, psychotherapy and psychiatry.

We will:

  • support scientific research on the integration of traditional healing practices into counselling psychology, psychotherapy, and psychiatry.
  • serve as an educational forum (exchanging academic papers, sharing clinical approaches) to scholars, researchers, therapists and other practitioners in the community who are interested in integrating traditional healing approaches into the practice of psychology, psychotherapy and psychiatry.
  • organize conferences and seminars for the dissemination of research on traditional healing and psychological practices.
  • establish an international journal for the dissemination of theory and research on the integration of traditional healing practices into counseling psychology, psychotherapy and psychiatry.
  • foster communication and collaboration between traditional healers and counseling psychologists and psychotherapists so that can work together in research, training and practice.
  • and recognize excellence in scholarship and practice in this field through awards.
